With visible global warming symptoms such as acute winter conditions and extreme summers, are we moving towards the end of human race?

Since the past few years, the seasons have been erratic and different from usual. The winters are pushing out late by a few weeks every season, while the summers keep expanding. Are these one off cases or a pattern, a pattern thats indicative of something? We all are aware of phenomenons such as global warming that claims to cover the entire surface of the planet with ice leaving no possibility for the human race to survive? Can the situation be aversed or avoided?
