when it comes to hero-worshipping,do we execute all care and check whether we are degrading ourselves by deifying false heros?when we make a study of the election scenario,we will notice that there are quite a few contestants with a criminal background and a few of them may actually win.as people,we have to be more discriminating and when it comes to endorsing something, there must be some more caution.in the cine field too,we fall for the glitter of those who are tax-evaders and those who are supposed to have under-world connections.all these make me wonderwhether we are basically worshippers of the succeessful of the greedy.can some of you throw some more light on the issue and enlighten me further?

Nothing succeeds like success. We Indians have two very basic properties, which we inherit by virtue of being born Indians. One, we forget the misdeeds very-very fast, and secondly we soon start looking in awe at persons who achieve some fame without understanding that the fame originated due to the nature of the work involved, or due to hidden misdeeds of that person. A small time TV actor (because of the nature of work) has the capacity to draw more crowd than an intelligent filmmaker who always stood behind the camera. If an ill-famed company is bought by another organization than the new CEO of that company is catapulted & assumed to be the best by the media without realizing that there are umpteen profit making companies who's CEO's have held the reins consistently in a better fashion. Same thing holds good in the political sector. So it is a fact that we idolize people without understand the facts and this is what we must not do. I think media is playing a huge role in swaying people off their feet quite erroneously. We need to stop at some point and start thinking in a more mature way. May be Halabol.com provides a wider platform to accommodate more of such like minded people who can develop courage to refuse to being drawn into idolizing people, who behind the shining surface of their achievements have made lot of dents in the structure of the country.

Interesting point being brought up.
I wonder why are those with criminal cases filed against them are even allowed to file the candidature for the elections? Like Isha said, we can't find out who has had a criminal background.
I feel the entire election and voting system needs an overhaul. The trust has to built in the mind of the voters in order to make them vote.

I totally agree! but who is providing us the details or the personality report of these pseudo leaders? Not all can indulge in research so if there is a way to highlight the criminal background, the educated can take a rightful stand. One of the major reasons that the educated don't vote. They cant chose a leader amid criminals!
